Under the Mask is a conference series at the University of Bedfordshire that focuses upon the multi-faceted issue of the gamer. Culturally, socially, psychologically, professionally, the list of masks worn by the gamer is endless. This conference series aims to penetrate these masks, investigating why they are worn, how they are used, and how they are constructed by gaming culture, game developers, and by the gamers. Under the Mask 5 will take place on Wednesday 13th June 2012.
Under the Mask 5 is organized by the University of Bedfordshire, UK, in association with the University of Hertfordshire, UK and the Swinburne University of Technology, Australia
This year's keynote will be provided by DiGRA Vice-President Dr. Esther MacCallum-Stewart
The 'Under the Mask' series also provides a unique opportunity to play, watch and make games amongst fellow gamers. 'Under the Mask 1' was held on Saturday June 7th 2008. 'Under the Mask 2' was held on 5th June 2009. Under the Mask 3 took place on Wednesday 2nd June 2010. Under the Mask 4 was held on the Friday 3rd June 2011.
